Fair board hiring for season

As the season starts warming up, the Boundary County Fair Board is looking for a few good hands; three fairgrounds bartenders, two temporary maintenance and janitorial workers and one year-around, and one assistant/intern to the Boundary County Fair manager.

The primary job responsibilities for the fair bartenders are to serve beer and wine during indoor and outdoor events at the fairgrounds throughout the year, as well as during fair week in August.

The primary job responsibilities for the temporary maintenance and janitorial positions are to perform a variety of duties related to maintenance, janitorial, upkeep and beautification of county owned fairgrounds and facilities, as well as assisting with the annual county fair in August.

This is a temporary summer part-time hourly position with extended hours during fair week, sometimes more than 70.

To qualify, applicants must be 16 years of age or older, have good communication skills, work well with a supervisor and have the ability to follow through on instructions.

They must be motivated and able to complete job responsibilities in a timely manner. Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

Starting wage begins at $17 per hour.

The primary job responsibilities of the year-around maintenance and janitorial position is to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties related to maintenance, janitorial, upkeep and beautification of county owned fairgrounds and facilities and attend most monthly fair board meetings.

This is a year-round flexible part-time hourly position with extended hours beginning in the spring through October as needed. Fair week usually requires 60-70 hours.

The successful applicant will have a high school diploma or equivalent have good verbal and written communication skills, and a sufficient combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job competently. Must be motivated and able to complete job responsibilities in a timely manner and with minimal supervision.

Starting wage begins at $21 per hour.

The Boundary County Fair Board is also seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic assistant to assist the fair manager with the preparation and execution of the 2025 Boundary County Fair.

This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event coordination, marketing, and community engagement, while working closely with the fair manager, fair board, local businesses, and youth organizations like 4-H and FFA.

The assistant will work 20 hours per week from June 9 to August 29 at a rate of $17 per hour. During fair week, August 4 through 9, the intern will be expected to work additional hours to assist with event execution.
