Huckleberry pancake breakfast season at the airport kicks off

On Saturday, May 31 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 757 will hold the first of five summer Huckleberry Pancake Breakfasts at the Boundary County Airport to raise scholarship money to help young people in the area learn to fly and/or become aircraft mechanics.

Members of Chapter 757 and volunteers have been holding the Breakfasts for over 20 years. Grateful appreciation is expressed to Three Mile Café, Super One Foods and Northern Air for their ongoing support of the breakfasts and our community.

Because of the financial assistance provided by the flight scholarship program many Boundary County young people have learned to fly, earned advanced pilot ratings or become certificated aircraft and powerplant mechanics. A number of them have gone on to careers in professional aviation.

Included among those who have been assisted by the scholarship program in the last year are Laila Jessop, Private Pilot; Phil Weaver, Aircraft and Powerplant Mechanic and Commercial Pilot; Josh Johnson, Private Pilot; Myia Anderson, Private Pilot; Cali Iacoulucci, Commercial Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor; and Nicole Blackmore, Certified Flight Instructor, all of Bonners Ferry. Ms. Blackmore and Ms. Iacoulucci are now flying professionally as a flight instructors at Northern Air.

Two beneficiaries of the scholarship program in the last few years that are now flying for airlines are Dalin Hubbard and Johannes Snyder.

Come out to the airport on May 31 for some a great huckleberry pancake breakfast, a chance to see some interesting airplanes and help young people learn to fly. We’re looking forward to serving you breakfast for a good cause.
