The Friends of Boundary County Historic Places have completed more than 300 hours of volunteer service in addition to donating over $2,000 in materials and supplies to special projects within Boundary County. Projects thus far have been in cooperation with the US Forest Service.
Project work has included cleaning and general maintenance on West Fork Cabin, outhouse construction at Black Mountain Lookout, picket fence repair at Snyder Guard Station, installation of new interpretive features at Snyder Guard Station, and hosting a full-day spring Open House at Snyder Guard Station.
They appreciate everyone who has participated and look forward to fun and friendship for the rest of the season.
The Friends of Boundary County Historic Places will co-host a lively Bingo game at the Eagles in downtown Bonners Ferry from 5 p.m. Saturday, August 2, until the games are played. Money and prizes will be given with each game. At the same time, they will raffle a beautiful quilt donated by Linda McFaddan.
They will end the season with a fall open house at Snyder Guard Station from 10 a.m.to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 27, and they invite the public to both events. Please check their website, www.bchistoricplaces.org, for photos, stories and more information.
Join them if you can!
