Wind storm wreaking havoc — page being updated as news comes in

10:11 a.m.: Ruby Creek Road is partially washed out in the 310o block.

10:08 a.m.: The Boundary County Courthouse will be closed until further notice due to a power outage.

10:02 a.m.: Highway 95 is closed at mile 534 due to a snapped power line.

9 :32 a.m. The 200 block of Spruce road, which is a dead end road, is currently washed out. Law enforcement, fire, EMS and County Road and Bridge have all been notified.

8:35 a.m.: The Boundary County Sheriff’s Office is aware that there are multiple locations where there are trees and powerlines down and that there are multiple community members without power. And in need of some assistance. Please do not attempt to move a live powerline. Wait for assistance. There in no estimated time for power to be restored and they recommend that you contact your utility company for updates.

8 a.m.: Around 868 Northern Lights customers in Boundary County lost power overnight with reports of new outages still coming in, 448 remain without power as of 8 a.m. today. Crews working through the storm overnight restored power to 691 customers.

Trees and power lines are reported down and blocking roads throughout Boundary County and crews are out clearing them as fast as safely possible.

The windstorm, expected to ease off at about 4 p.m.today, has caused widesprerad damage through much of the Pacific northwest.

7:49 a.m.: Emergency crews are responding to a car struck by a falling power pole on Blume Hill Road at Shingle Mill Loop. The occupants are trapped in the vehicle. Numerous fallen trees are blocking access. The occupants were extricated safely after Northern Lights personnel de-energized the line.
