The flood relief food drive for Libby has come to an end, and I am very proud of all that we as a community managed to provide for our lovely neighbors to the east. Hundreds of pounds of food and water were delivered to the Libby Christian Church Food Pantry along with a good amount of monetary donations as well.
Lots of canned goods, boxed dinners, macaroni and cheese, flour and other baking goods, water bottles, Gatorade, and the like were delivered on two different days, December 16 and 19 in about equal full car loads.
I took my family down with me on Tuesday because my wife wanted to go and see what Libby looked like before starting her week of night shifts at the hospital, and I am glad she convinced me to go early. The Food Pantry was having an event that night for the community as a huge shipment of water bottles had been delivered, and our initial day of food donations stocked their shelves for those in need in time for that event as well.
Thank you to everyone who donated to the cause. We showed up for those in need and let the people of western Montana know that we have their back and that they have our support. I am proud of you all and I want to extend my greatest gratitude to our county.
Next week I will be back to writing about fly fishing and the like, but for now I want to tell you multiple things. Thank you for your support to Libby. Thank you for your support of my column. Thank you for everything that you great people do. Have a merry Christmas, a happy New Year and a great holiday season. Just don’t go overboard on the eggnog (or do … I’m not your dad!).
Tight lines out there, folks.
