Dalton Regehr, 13-year-old son of Christi and Brandon Regehr was the sole Bonners Ferry participant of the Well Middle State tournament yesterday at the Ford Center in Nampa Idaho. Dalton chose to wrestle up from his standard 100 – 115 pound weight bracket and took on the 120 pound weight bracket. But that didn’t seem to matter much. Dalton, weighing in at 116.8, went 5 and 1 and took home the 3rd place bronze metal.
“He seems to do well no matter where he chooses!” His mom Christi says, “He got caught in the semifinals match and came all the way back but needed three to four more second to seal it up. No true second here, but we are super proud of him!”
The Battle for the North tournament in Rathdrum came on the heels of the Well Middle State tournament and Dalton did not disappoint. On Sunday, with a bye his first round, he won the next three matches, bringing home the gold and another victory for Bonners Ferry and Boundary County Middle School wrestling.
