Kat Baron and her husband recently moved their family from the Coeur d’Alene area to beautiful Bonners Ferry to escape the fast-paced city life and start their homesteading journey and small home birth practice in far north Idaho.
Kat began her midwifery journey over 18 years ago and has attended to over 800 births. She has completed credentialling on several insurances and has launched her Bonners Ferry practice.

A message from Kat:
Hello Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint!
I am a new Licensed Midwife to the area, and I wanted to introduce myself and share that I have opened a small home birth practice here.
I am new to the area, but not to midwifery. I actually started my midwifery journey over 18 years ago and have attended to ~800 women while they birthed their babies. I have also taught many dozens of students’ skills and have served in leadership roles for many years.
I believe midwifery changes the world because when women are supported in the way they should be, with respect for their own God-given autonomy, it strengthens families.
We recently moved from around the Coeur d’Alene area to Bonners Ferry and are building our homestead on land.
I grew up in rural Montana adjacent to Amish and Mennonite communities. This community reminds me so much of back home and I love it dearly. I don’t know if I’ve ever felt more at home somewhere right away.
We have five homeschooled boys, from toddler twins to teenagers, all born at home. Through my years of midwifery practice, I’ve served so many families in different walks of life. I am a calm presence at births, a bold woman of faith, and a very real person that will not judge you no matter where you are in life. My hope is only to serve and serve well.
I believe midwives should have an incredible number of skills and experience, and most of the time not need to use either.
If you’re seeking midwifery care, I encourage you to reach out to me and let’s have a sit-down meeting and see if we would be a good fit to work together.
If you are not currently seeking midwifery care I would love it if you could share this post to help spread the word.
