GoFundMe account set to help with mom’s funeral expenses

A Palmer, Alaska, woman who spent much of her youth and early adulthood in Bonners Ferry, graduating from Bonners Ferry High School in 1986 and was proud to have joined her father, Donald Magee, a Boundary County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy in serving the public in law enforcement as a Boundary County Sheriff’s Dispatcher.

Having lived in Bonners Ferry since 1971, Michelle Akers returned to Palmer in 1990, where she worked as at Municipal Power and Light as a customer service supervisor for 30 years.

On November 18, Michelle died at home, suddenly and unexpectedly.

A GoFundMe account has been established for donations. A celebration of Michelle’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at United Protestant Presbyterian Church, 713 S Denali Street, Palmer, Alaska. A potluck will follow.
