Badger wrestling did not disappoint at the Backwoods Brawl Invitational in Priest River this weekend. As one of ten teams, the Badgers took home three first place trophies, one second place, three third-place trophies, one fourth and a fifth-place finish for the tournament.
Kylie Calderone, wrestling in the 110-pound weight bracket, was the sole Lady Badger in attendance. She fought her way to the end and came out on top pinning her opponent in the final round for bragging rights and the coveted champion belt. Way to go, Kylie!
Gaige Johnson, wrestling in the 175 bracket and Taylor Dodd in the 285 also took home bragging rights and the Backwoods Brawl champion belts by way of pin. Solid work, boys!
Damen Therrien in the 98-pound weight bracket took the 2nd place win, Ethan Matthews at 138, Robert Kelsey at 144 and Rocky Monroe all took third place and Aiden Dodd at 157 took 4th.
Sam Roeser, Eivind Falck, and Colt were in attendance but did not place.
Go Badgers!
The Bagers will travel to Post Falls to wrestle at the River City Duals on Friday, January 9. Times TBA.
