South Boundary Fire gets grant for AEDs

South Boundary Fire is proud to announce the award of a grant from the North Idaho Healthcare Coalition to purchase three Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). This is a major step forward in improving both firefighter safety and public access to lifesaving equipment.

The AEDs will be strategically placed as follows:

  • Engine 652, housed at Station Two on Deep Creek Loop. Prior to this grant, there were no AEDs available at this station or on any apparatus assigned there.
  • Brush 661, our first-out wildland apparatus. Until now, none of our wildland units carried AEDs. While AEDs are often thought of as tools for public emergencies, this placement is especially critical for firefighter safety. During wildland incidents, our crews frequently operate far from immediate medical resources, and cardiac events remain one of the most significant risks in the fire service.
  • Our Community Room, which is frequently used for meetings and community events, will now have an AED accessible to the public, providing immediate access to potentially lifesaving care.

This grant significantly improves both public safety and firefighter safety, and we are extremely thankful to the North Idaho Healthcare Coalition for their support and investment in our community.

Thank you for helping us better protect those we serve and those who serve.
