At about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 8, Mika Waltering and Tristen Hafner were waiting for a tow after they lost control of their pick-up that came to rest in a ditch on Meadow Creek Road earlier that morning.
Mika and Tristen were standing outside of their vehicle when another vehicle lost control on the icy road and came barreling toward them.
Quick thinking and reflexes on Tristen’s part likely protected Mika’s body from a more devastating situation.
Without the safety and protection of their truck both Mika and Tristen were hit.
According to Mika, she sustained a fractured pelvis and Tristen some torn muscles.
They both have some significant recovery time ahead of them but are grateful to be alive.
