Rice and Bateman score for Chukars and take the win

The Treasure Valley Chukars opened up conference play this week with a show down against the Columbia Basin Hawks on Wednesday night.

Bonners Ferry’s own Brody Rice, son of Andy and Kelsey Rice, had his second career start as a Chukar and racked up 10 points including two three pointers to add to their 82-56 win against the Hawks.

As a 6-foot 3-inch guard, Brody added four rebounds and two assists in 16 minutes of play.

6-foot 6-inch freshman, Thomas Bateman, son of Tomi and Jed Bateman, added four points, a rebound, a steal and an assist for the Chukars.

The Chukars are now 4-8 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.

The Chukars will hit the road for another matchup against the Big Bend Vikings in Moses Lake on January 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. MST, noon local time.
