Novingers lose their home over the holidays

Bonners Ferry’s favorite music teacher and musician Glenda Novinger and her husband Ross were just settling in for Christmas with their family and unwinding after the long trip to California when an early morning phone call brought devastating news. An explosion had ripped through the home they’d shaped into their dream home for five years was in ashes.

Glenda’s mother’s piano, Ross’s grandmother’s artwork, their irreplaceable baby pictures … the cherished memories of their lives … all gone.

When firefighters reached the scene, flames were shooting about 50-feet into the night. Firefighters toiled mightily, but it took 12-hours to get a knock on the blaze and begin to rein it into control.

Glenda and Ross are giving neighbors, but both are reticent asking for help for themselves. Friends and neighbors, however, didn’t leave them a choice.

A GoFundMe account has been established, and funds raised here will help Ross and Glenda replace essentials and secure a place to stay while the debris from the fire is cleared away in the coming months.

Later, your support will help them rebuild.

Ross and Glenda are truly generous and kind people, and this is a chance for everyone whose lives they’ve touched to show that same spirit of appreciation and love in return. Whether it’s a dollar or a hundred dollars, no matter how big or small, every donation will help Glenda and Ross rebuild their lives. Your kindness and generosity mean more to them than words can express.

  1. So heartbreaking, we love you guys and our prayers and love is with you and your wonderful husband.

  2. Thank you very, very much for sharing this information about the Novingers with our community. In addition to their GoFundMe account, there is a “Novinger Rebuilding Fund” that has been established at Mountain West Bank downtown.
Many of you may know Glenda as the director of the Bonners Ferry Community Orchestra, of which I’ve been blessed to have been a member since 2019. Though our orchestra’s rehearsal schedule for the spring season has been delayed by two weeks, we still plan to perform our next concert this coming May (tentatively Sunday the 17th) at the high school Becker Auditorium, using the word “Inspire” as the concert’s theme. We are so thankful for the past and present support so many have given to the orchestra as it has grown to about 50 musicians from here, Bonner County, Troy and Libby. And for Glenda and Ross in their current time of need, especially profound thanks for all of your prayers, thoughts and support.
