Every community has its share of unsung heroes, and Bonners Ferry is no exception. Too often, their contributions aren’t fully recognized until they’re gone. Ruth Ann Wilson is one of those rare individuals who deserves to be honored now, while we can still tell her how much she means to us.
Ruth Ann was raised in humble circumstances, where she learned early the value of family, hard work and looking out for others. Empathy came naturally to her—especially toward elders and anyone who needed a hand up.
I first met Ruth Ann as an underclassman at Bonners Ferry High School, when I found myself in a bookkeeping class with her. It was immediately clear she had a natural gift for accounting. She excelled effortlessly, yet always took the time to help others—including me—succeed alongside her. In hindsight, it was a clear foreshadowing of the career that would define her life.
Over the decades, Ruth Ann became the de facto business manager for scores of small businesses across Boundary County. Competence and candor became her trademarks. She helped half the county navigate their business ventures—often charging far less than her work was worth—because she believed people here deserved help whether they could afford it or not.
Countless families relied on her steady hand, especially when caring for elderly parents or sorting through complicated estate matters that would have overwhelmed them on their own. Her generosity filled a vital role in this community, and many people are better off today because of her quiet, selfless service.
It’s impossible to fully measure Ruth Ann’s contributions. Even now, at a time in life when she has earned the right to rest and enjoy a slower pace, she continues to take on tasks for others with the same generosity that has defined her entire life.
Ruth Ann Wilson is a true unsung hero, and she deserves our collective gratitude. Thank you, Ruth Ann, for your lifetime of service, kindness, and integrity. Please know that you are deeply loved and profoundly appreciated.

Ruth Ann is one of the nicest ladies I ever met. It was a pleasure to work around her.
Wonderful friend and she deserves kudos and deserves to be honored. They don’t make them any better than Ruth Ann.
Her generosity and caring was certainly a blessing when I moved to Bonners Ferry . I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for so many years.
RuthAnn (aka..RAW) is an amazing lady. I’ve had the HONOR and pleasure of knowing and working with her for a many many years.
I can honestly say that her dedication, love, understanding and willingness to not only listen but in turn help to solve the issues, goes way beyond that of anybody I have ever known.
Not only do I value my friendship with her, I love her like my sister.
RAW….you absolutely ROCK !!
A loving, caring, friend, advisor, and cook for me for over 50 years. We worked together many moons ago at Don’s cafe in Bonners. She was a cook and I, a waitress. No one else, anywhere, can cook a pork chop like Ruthie can. I remember full well when she and Jim first met. I got to watch her daughter, Shawn, take her first step and watch Shawn and Kelly grow up. No matter how daunting the task, or how simple the question, she is always available with an answer, and if she doesn’t know, it she will find it! Ruthie, I loved you when we first met. I love you now, and I will cherish our friendship forever. You are a blessing to me and to so very many others.
Such a Blessing to know this Wonderful Sweet Caring Woman! Love you dearly Ruth Ann! See ya soon on the Golf Course💕
