This weekend, Friday through Sunday, February 13-15th, is the 33rd Boundary County Gun & Horn Show down at the Boundary County Fairgrounds , hosted by the Kootenai Valley Sportsman Association. While there will be a fair share of guns and horns down there this year, there will also be a quaint little table set up in the Sportsman’s Expo side of the show where myself and a few handfuls of local fly fisherman will be sitting all three days.
We will be there to talk about fishing and conservation, fly tying, rivers and streams and lakes, and some of us will most likely be hosting some fly casting events and lessons for those who are interested.
Leanna Young of The Last Resort will be there to talk about the local waters and her experiences guiding on the Kootenai. Les Bevin will be there to answer any questions you may have about fly tying (plus he is full of a million interesting and nigh unbelievable stories), some Idaho Fish and Game folks will be floating around to answer any wildlife legality questions you have that one of us normal civilians can’t answer, and the Panhandle chapter of Trout Unlimited are sending some of their finest on Saturday to sit at our humble table to spread their knowledge.
The schedule for the weekend is as follows:
- Friday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
So, feel free to come on down and stay awhile. We will be drinking coffee, telling stories, and talking over each other at the table until someone comes over to chat or ask some questions themselves. Please save us from only hearing each other’s voices throughout the weekend. I hope to see you there!
Tight lines out there, friends
