Bruce Merrifield

With heavy hearts, his family shares news that Bruce Merrifield passed away on Saturday, February 14. He fought as hard as he possibly could, showing strength, fight and courage until the very end. We are heartbroken and shattered by this loss, yet we hold onto the comfort that God is with us through all of this, and our family and community unity will be carrying us when we feel we cannot go on.

  1. Footprints in the Sand – song by Rebecca J. Huseby
We walked along the sand-Together, hand in hand
Close beside the changing tide of life
Sometimes I felt Him near-He’d whisper in my ear
And gently tell me just which path was right
Sometimes the way was easy-And a song would fill the air
I knew I had no worries-As long as he was there
But when the storm was raging-I felt so all alone
And it seemed the roughest places-I traveled on my own….
And when I neared the end-And I looked back along the way
I saw the footprints in the sand-Where we walked yesterday
In the smooth and easy places-There were two sets I could see
But when the way grew rough and hard-Only one appeared to me….
Footprints in the sand-Ooo footprints in the sand
Though I wanted to believe that he was faithful-I could not understand
Those footprints in the sand-Ooo footprints in the sand
How could He forsake me -When I needed Him the most
And leave me there all by myself…..For there was only just one set of
Footprints in the sand-Ooo footprints in the sand…

So He looked at me and shook His head
And said I knew you’d never make it through
When there’s just one set of footprints-Precious child
    That’s when I carried you

  2. I am saddened to hear this news. He will truly be missed in our community. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

  3. Bruce was all the things a person should be with never a contrary word. He taught me a few lessons. Never with words but by hard work, example and always a smile. His love for others was genuine.

I will miss seeing his smiling face on the streets of Bonners Ferry, he was special. A model for us all.

Heaven was meant for people like you, Gods Speed.
