Eight Bonners Ferry High School Badger wrestlers were in attendance at the 4A district meet on the Lakeland Hawks turf in Rathdrum this weekend and all eight Badger wrestlers earned berths to the state meet in Nampa, Idaho. The Idaho State Wrestling Championships will be held on February 27 and 28 at the Ford Idaho Center.
Taylor Dodd, Ethan Matthews, Rocky Monroe and Colt Barras all stood at the top of the podium with gold metals donning their necks as District Champions.
Taylor Dodd became a three-time district champion as a junior and he, Ethan Matthews and Colt Barras won by pin while Rocky Monroe won by forfeit.
Runners up and silver metals for the Badgers were Gaige Johnson, Eivind Falck, Robert Kelsey and Aiden Dodd.
“Much hard work, grit, commitment and dedication were put in by both our boy and girl wrestlers and the coaches during the last three months,” Assistant Coach Corey Richards says, “Well deserved, Badgers!”
The Badgers will depart for the state tournament on Thursday, February 26 at 5 a.m. Stay tuned for send-off details.
