Members of the community have notified the Sheriff’s office and the DMV that they are receiving messages stating that they have unpaid traffic tickets and if not immediately paid their driver’s license will be suspended.
The text message also includes a link attached where payment can be made. This message is false and a scam.
The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV), does not send text messages requesting payment for traffic tickets or fines.
These agencies will not demand immediate payment through text or provide links to do so. If you receive one of these messages, do not click on the link or provide personal/financial information.
