Iris Elaine Melior (Cooper) Galloway

Elaine was born on May 15, 1939, to Wally and Winnie Melior. She went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2026.

Elaine grew up in a large and loving household alongside her seven siblings: Janet, Walt, Phil, Patty, Roger, Alice, and Helen. Family was always at the heart of her life.

She was married for many years to Denny Cooper. Together they owned and operated Denny’s Texaco, located on Highway 95 across from CarQuest. They raised three children: Paul, Mike, and Nora Cooper. Elaine was a devoted stay-at-home mother who lovingly cared for her home, garden, and animals. She tended chickens and geese and spent many hours canning and preserving food for her family.

After Denny passed away, Elaine returned to school, completed driver’s education, and proudly earned her driver’s license in 1994.

She later worked at JCPenney until it closed and then worked for Dr. Doug Beazer for many years. She was very well thought of by Dr. Beazer and his staff, who appreciated her kindness and dedication.

In 2015, Elaine married Jack Galloway. They shared eleven very happy years together until her passing in 2026.

Elaine was a kind and sweet woman whose gentle spirit touched many lives. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this spring.

  1. Elaine was a faithful member of our Hebrew language class. She always showed up with a large beaming smile and cheery disposition, seeking for information of how to understand her Heavenly Father in deeper, more meaningful ways.
I will look forward to seeing that smile again at the return of our Savior Yeshua.
