Get to know the first four Distinguished Young Women participants

Eva Willis– Participant No. 1

Eva Willis

American Legion Post 55 is happy to sponsor Evangeline (Eva) Willis. Eva is the daughter of Hannah Sucsy and Hank Willis. She has one sister, Eika, and two brothers, Henry and Jude.

After graduation, Eva plans to attend Northern Arizona University to pursue dentistry or athletic training.

Extracurricular activities she enjoys include basketball, volleyball, and track. Eva is interested in modern personality Sha’Carri Richardson, and historical personality Wilma Rudolph.

For her talent, Eva will be performing a dance/gymnastics routine.

 

 

 

 

 

Jordyn Fowler – Participant No. 2

Jordyn Fowler

Beta Sigma Phi is delighted to sponsor Jordyn Fowler. Jordyn is the daughter of Martha Fowler and Greg Hutchinson. She has one sister, Emily, and one brother, Matthew.

After high school, Jordyn would like to attend Boise State University to pursue ultrasound technology. She stays active with FFA and working at the Badger’s Den.

Jordyn is interested in historical personality Audrey Hepburn, and modern personality Leah Remini. For her talent, Jordyn will be showcasing a vocal performance.

When asked what makes Jordyn most proud of her generation, she states, “Our ability to accept the fact that many people we interact with over the course of our lives will be very different from us.”

 

 

 

Gracie Pluid – Participant No. 3

Gracie Pluid

The Masonic Organizations are pleased to Sponsor Gracie Pluid. Gracie is the daughter of Casey Solt and Mark and Andrakay Pluid. She has two sisters, Hayden and Addison.

After graduation, Gracie would like to attend college in Florida and pursue a career in residential architecture or home remodeling design.

Outside of school, Gracie enjoys competitive club volleyball, summer volleyball training, and architectural 3D modeling and rendering. Gracie is interested in modern personality Drew Afualo and historical personality Harriet Tubman.

For her talent, Gracie will be performing a cheer pom routine.

When asked what makes Gracie least proud of her generation, she states, “The lack of community. There is less neighborly communication, and we live in a world where we don’t know our neighbors’ names.”

 

 

 

Abby Gentry – Participant No. 4

Abby Gentry

Bonners Ferry Eagles Aerie, Number 3522 is honored to sponsor Abigail (Abby) Gentry. Abby is the daughter of Matthew and Nelda Gentry. She has one brother, Alexander.

After high school, Abby plans to attend University of Idaho and pursue a career in dental hygiene. Extracurricular activities she enjoys include cheerleading, skiing, and beach volleyball.

One historical figure that interests Abby is Martin Luther King, Jr. For her talent, Abby will be showcasing a ballet performance.

When asked what makes Abby most proud of her generation, she states, “We’re willing to speak up and stand for what we believe in. Even though we are young, we care about important issues and aren’t afraid to have hard conversations or support others.”

 

 

The Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women Scholarship program is funded entirely through donations and support from local businesses and community members. Last year, the program awarded more than $13,000 in scholarships to local participants. This year’s Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women program will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, in the Becker Auditorium at Bonners Ferry High School, 6485 Tamarack Lane, Bonners Ferry.

Tickets are$15 and go on sale Monday, April 13, at Mountain Mike’s Health Food Store, with proceeds supporting the scholarship fund. Seats are reserved, and early purchase is encouraged.
