Fit and Fall Proof finds new home

The Fit and Fall Proof® exercise class for seniors has found a new home. After 25 years at the VFW Hall, we are pleased to announce our new location at the Panhandle Health District Office, 7402 Caribou Street, Bonners Ferry, on the corner next to the Restorium and across the street from Boundary Community Hospital. The hour long class is held at 10:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

This free class is part of a state supported program taught by trained volunteers. It is targeted for older adults or anyone who has a history of falling or a fear of falling.

The instructors are Karen Meeker, a physical therapist with a background in movement education, and Cynthia Knittel, a physical therapy assistant with extensive experience working with senior citizens. The class will take you safely through a process of improving strength, flexibility, mobility and balance. In addition, the class addresses functional topics including: posture improvement, coming up from sitting to standing, reaching for the floor, reaching into a cupboard, turning to look behind you — all those activities that typically become more difficult with age.

You will learn strategies to help ease pain and discomfort, prevent injury, increase energy, reduce stress and improve concentration. With the use of music, balls and other “toys” the sessions are fun and engaging.

Do we stop playing because we get older or do we get older because we stop playing? Come and play with us! For more information call Karen Meeker, (208) 946-6008,or Cynthia Knittel, (208) 304-4532.
