Badger baseball was on fire Tuesday night, delivering a double-dose of dominance. The Varsity squad, led by head coach Tom Turpin, battled their way to a tight 7–6 victory. But the real fireworks came from the Junior Varsity team, coached by Chad Carle, who threw a combined perfect game—powered entirely by three freshman pitchers.
Brent Worley set the tone early, facing six batters and striking out all six with absolute command.
Gordon Woelfle followed, mowing down five of the six hitters he faced and getting the sixth on a routine play down the first-base line.
Then came Brydin Weymer to finish the job—three up, three down, boom‑boom‑boom.
Much to the chagrin of the North Central High School Wolfpack, the JV Badgers rolled to a 14–0 shutout, ending the game after five innings.
Offensively, the Badgers were just as sharp, racking up 13 hits, six walks, and taking advantage of two hit‑by‑pitches.
Jay Newhouse and Gordon Woelfle held their ground from behind the plate in comradery with their pitchers to complete a perfect game.
At the plate:
- Tyson Dickson went 2–4
- Gordon Woelfle went 3–4 with two doubles
- Brent Worley went 3–3 with a walk
- Jeremiah Becker went 2–2 and was hit by a pitch
It was a dominant night across the board for Badger baseball.
The Badgers will take the field at Coeur d’Alene High School 1400 N. Northwood Center Court on Friday, April 10 for another double-dose of Badger, but this time against the Vikings with the JV beginning at 2 p.m. and Varsity at 4 p.m.
Go Badgers!
