Todd Achilles challenging Risch as an Independent

“I’m just a farm kid from Oregon.” Todd Achilles told 9B News, “I was involved in 4H as a kid and after high school joined the military where I served as a tank commander in the U.S. Army and endured two deployments to Iraq in the 90s.”

Todd Achilles served as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives as a democrat for District 16B in 2024 and 2025 but resigned his position on July 1 to run for the U.S. Senate in 2026 as an independent. He is a family man and has a deep desire to conserve the constitution and encourage congress to re-assert control.

Todd switched parties in 2025 from democrat to independent saying regarding the partisan contention, “We have never been so screwed up than we are right now, and we all know it.”

When asked why anyone should vote for him, he said, “This is not about Trump. This is about Idaho. Fair markets and livable wages matter more than partisan talking points.”

“This campaign is not about political party allegiance.” Todd says on his website, “It is about recommitting ourselves to the Constitution and to our fellow Idahoans. The challenges ahead of us are not right versus left, but top versus bottom. There is more that unites Idahoans than divides us.”
