Local man facing four counts aggravated assault, three rape

A 52-year-old Boundary County man is being held in the Boundary County Jail on$200,000 bond after being charged September 19 with seven felonies, including three counts of rape, against two county women between November 2021 and May 2025.

According to court documents, Michael A. Lange’s first alleged attack occurred in November, 2021, when he allegedly held a pistol to his victims head and threatened to shoot her, and then forcibly raped her, still holding the pistol to her head. He was charged with aggravated assault and rape.

He was charged with a second count of aggravated assault for an incident allegedly involving the same victim in April, 2022, when he is again suspected of holding a pistol to her head, and he was charged again with aggravated battery and rape of the same woman in August, 2022, again for allegedly holding a gun against her head and raping her.

On May 24, 2025, he is accused of assaulting and raping his second victim, again allegedly by holding a pistol to her head and threatening to use it if she tried to leave, again resulting in charges of aggravated battery and rape.

Lange was arraigned before Judge Susie Jensen October 22 and bound over for trial, set for 9 a.m. Monday, February 9, his motion to be released on his own recognizance or for reduced bail denied.

If convicted of aggravated battery, Lange faces up to five years in prison and/or a fine not to exceed $5,000 per count and one year to life in prisonon  each count of rape.

This isn’t Lange’s first brush with the law. On November 29, 2018, he was charged in Boundary County with DUI, carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence and exhibition or use of a deadly weapon, he pled guilty and served 62 days of a 120-day jail term.

On December 20, 2012, he was charged with battery, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and resisting arrest, he pled guilty to resisting arrest possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 18 months to three years in prison, he was charged October 26, 2012, with resisting arrest and pled guilty, DUI and driving without privileges April 18, 1996, pleading guilty to DUI, failure to stop at an injury accident, dismissed, reckless driving July 13, 1995, guilty, and DUI August 6, 1993, guilty.
