Denise Teague and her family live in Blanchard, Idaho, and own and operate the Cowboy Pit BBQ in Oldtown. She didn't know it, but friends Amrick Singh and Aman Singh, who helped them start the Cowboy Pit, recently purchased the Moyie Store, so it came as a bolt out of the blue when, in June, they asked the Teague's if they'd be interested in leasing a long-idle space over 70 miles away in the Moyie Store. They drove up, looked around, discussed it, and said "yes." "My husband told me he'd run the Cowboy Pit and I'd run Timbers," Denise said. It was even easier to bring in chef Gwin Moore. "It's perfect for me," she said. "I can walk to work, I have an excellent boss and a great clientele. It's perfect!" The menu says mainly sandwiches and a few sides, with pork ribs on the weekends, but that belies just what Timbers Roadside Grill offers and should not cloud anyone's concept ... They smoke their own meats, 12 hours for the melt-in-your-mouth brisket, they grind their own steak for the hamburgers. Their sauces are homemade, the barbecue sauce so popular they bottle and sell it, and they put all that excellence on homemade ciabatta rolls that make these sandwiches like none you ever tasted. Beef, chicken and pork, coleslaw, smoked beans, fries or chili cheese fries, nachos ... burgers so good one gentleman who stopped in and had one found so good he turned around and drove over 100 miles the next day just to have another ... wraps, pulled pork or chicken and more, there's something for everyone and everyone owes it to themselves to stop in! Timbers Roadside Grill, 69794 US-2, Moyie Springs, is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Service is fast and friendly whether you eat in, call in or carry out ... and word's already spreading ... if you want to guarantee you'll enjoy a rack, half-rack or plate of tender smoked ribs on the weekend, it's a good idea to call (208) 267-6266 so they can make sure to stock up! |
