We made the conscious choice to raise our children in Boundary County because of the culture that exists here. I have experienced the highs and lows of the economics in this wonderful rural community we all call home. Early in the years of trying to provide healthy forest treatment to the Myrtle Creek Watershed, I learned something that has had a significant impact. A large group of interested parties met to be involved in the development of the treatment on Forest Service land. I was part of the group. We were all asked to state why we were there. The most telling statement I heard from a very wise man was: “I am here to be involved. My father always said, if you are not in the kitchen helping to cook the meal, then you have to eat what’s served.” I have adopted this philosophy with anything that impacts Boundary County. I get involved in everything I can and will continue to do so for the benefit of those who call Boundary County home. To properly represent you, this position of public service cannot be part-time or secondary to anything else. I will continue to devote my full-time effort to Boundary County. |
