Commissioner, District 2

Steve Fioravanti

I am Steve Fioravanti, Bonners Ferry, and I'm running for Boundary County Commissioner, District 2. Our locally elected officials face tough decisions every day. Stretching our limited resources to deliver the maximum of services to our community is a formidable task. Where I see the need for change is in our ability to think outside the box.

Implementing new and creative ideas to counter negative economic trends will be the key to our prosperity going forward.

What I love most about Bonners Ferry, “The Friendliest City,” is the welcoming nature of this wonderful community. I grew up in a small town which exhibited the same spirit and instilled in me a great pride and appreciation for a close-knit community. Two of my children graduated from Bonners Ferry High School. They were very involved in many of the excellent activities offered, including FFA and 4-H.

Free enterprise and an entrepreneurial spirit are the backbone of a strong economy. I will work to create more opportunities for our young adults to be able to earn a decent living, buy an affordable home and raise their families right here in Boundary County.

Idaho is blessed with an abundance of natural resources. Finding ways to better manage our own resources locally, and reap those rewards, can only benefit our community. We can do this without changing the rural character and culture of our county. This could be a viable solution for revenue sources as we seek ways towards lowering our rapidly escalating property taxes.

I would like to see more transparency in our local government with more community engagement. Nobody has all the answers and everyone has something to offer. I strive to understand another person’s point of view. I may not agree with them, but it helps me to understand where they are coming from.

Our citizens should gather, listen to each other, debate and work towards resolving key issues. We can do this with civility and with respect for each other.

My goal as a Boundary County Commissioner is to ensure our government adheres to its proper role, which is to protect life, liberty and property. I will oppose any unconstitutional act to force or coerce our citizens to get a vaccination or wear masks. Ultimately, it is an individual’s right to choose.

My years and breadth of experience working in the private sector have served me well. I’ve worked with department heads in all capacities in running companies, which has helped me to develop strong project management skills. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to serve and represent you.

In conclusion, I believe that public service is to serve the people. We are facing very difficult times ahead. I will work diligently to maintain the rural character of our county. I will promote the safety and welfare of our citizens. I will ensure that our voice is heard, and that we are properly represented at the local, state and federal levels. My promise is to keep Boundary County the beautiful place that it is.

I would be honored to serve the people of Boundary County. I would like to hear from you. Please feel free to reach out to me at Steve4Commissioner@protonmail.com.
