Superintendent of Public Instruction

Branden J. Durst

This race boils down to two competing visions for the future of Idaho education. One vision is pushed by education insiders with decades of experience in the education establishment who believe in doubling-down on an education system that has failed many parents. The other vision, my vision, is that of an education outsider, who wants to put parents back in the driver’s seat of their children’s education.

My name is Branden Durst and I am a Christian, husband, father of five and the conservative for state superintendent. I am being supported by nearly every conservative organization in Idaho and have received votes of support from multiple GOP central committees including Kootenai, Bonner and Bonneville. I am committed to restoring parents to their rightful place as the decision makers in their children’s education.

I believe we need new leadership to lead our schools. Someone who isn’t entrenched in the education establishment, but rather someone who is on the outside with the knowledge and ability to make the changes our schools desperately need. I am that candidate.

My campaign is focusing on three primary issues.
  1. End Common Core (for real, not just say we did)
  2. Stop Critical Race Theory and other social justice indoctrination theories
  3. Money follows students to their parents school of choice (see the plan at durstforidaho.com/epea)

My Republican bona fides are clear. I have donated to more Republican candidates in the last decade than both of my opponents combined. I have served as a delegate to the state convention, written part of the Idaho GOP platform and volunteered countless hours for Republican and conservative causes and candidates.

Professionally, I have been a small business owner, child custody mediator, community college instructor, curriculum developer, licensed pastor and more. I also served in the legislature in both the House and the Senate, including service on the education committees in both chambers.

Academically, I earned a bachelor of arts in political science and a master of public administration in public policy. I’ll earn an education specialist degree in executive educational leadership in May.

I am committed to fighting for parents and do what needs to be done to fix our education system. To learn more about me or my campaign, please visit durstforidaho.com or call me directly at (208) 505-8893.

I hope to earn your vote on May 17.

Let’s go Branden!
