Far North Fungi sets Naples meeting

Far North Fungi will conduct it second Mushroom Seminar from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at South Boundary County Fire Station 1, 20 Stagecoach Road, Naples.

"Foraging for Wild Mushrooms in North Idaho: Safety Tips and Advice" is a popular free class that covers precautions as well as provides advice from local educator Art Church. A recorded presentation by Taylor Lockwood will be highlighted; "The Good, The Bad, and The Deadly: Knowing the Poisonous Mushrooms" for discussion. A list of resources for identifying wild mushrooms will be provided to participants.

Attending one of our mushroom safety classes will be a prerequisite for attending future foraging field trips with the mushroom club.

Far North Fungi plans to host mushroom foraging field trips in Boundary County as well as monthly educational meetings. Field trips will be planned during the months of May, June, September and October.

Potential topics for monthly meetings include Mushroom Identification, Medicinal Properties of Mushrooms, Cooking with Mushrooms, Mushroom Preservation, and How to Grow Mushrooms Indoors All Year!
