Spring into summer in search of mines at the museum

May 20, 2022

Grab your and shovel, your gold pan, and your hard hat and come on down to the Lazy Susan Mine at the Museum on Saturday, May 21 ... There will be fun for all! At 10 a.m. Gary Regehr will be spinning some tales of Boundary County mines he has knowledge about. Gary will have photos as well as his stories to share. There will be Q/A time too.

Starting at 2 p.m., Dr. Jim Richardson will help everyone understand why Boundary County was never a Wild Horse Canada or a Silver Valley. Jim will explain the geological composition of our mountains and how that affects mineable minerals. More Q/A time available during this hour.

The Lazy Susan Mine tours and activities begin at 11 a.m. and the shift is done at 2 p.m. You won’t want to miss this “golden” opportunity!

A miners’ lunch will be served from noon to 1 p.m. in the Rail Road Courtyard. Enjoy some homemade “grub!”

All events are provided as a community “welcome to the Boundary County Museum,” compliments of your Boundary County Historical Society Board, staff and volunteers. Come join the fun!
