A merry flying chicken Christmas!

October 24, 2023

It's probably not fair to say it, but Santa Claus has let slip that he and his wife, Mrs. Santa, will be in Bonners Ferry on Saturday, December 2, to wish season's greetings to all, hear your Christmas wishes and stand with Bonners Ferry Mayor Rick Alonzo as he formally and officially throws the switch to light this fair city for the joys of the holiday season.

Santa is also inviting Boundary County kids to bring their parents to town and drop them off at the Pearl Theater, 7160 Ash Street, between 1:30 and 2 p.m. for the annual free Pearl Theater holiday movie ... a very good one this year ... "The Year Without A Santa Claus," the story of that year Santa Claus woke up with a cold sometime before Christmas and was told by his doctor, who thinks nobody cares about Santa anymore, to make some changes to his routine, encouraging Santa to take a holiday instead of delivering gifts.

Thank goodness Santa, who was tempted, didn't take that terrible advice!

While the kids are enjoying the movie, their parents are free to shop, and they can come together at 4 p.m. at Georgia Mae Plaza in time for Santa's arrival!

Nobody is supposed to know it, but Santa also let slip that the first 75 kids who go to the Pearl Theater Holiday Movie will again be getting, for free, a gift bag of candy and toys and one a $50 bill! Even better ... several of the gift bags will include a flying chicken slingshot, a silly looking bird you can fly into walls and make them stick! There will also be bags with bubbles and stretchy men, a bit of silly fun for everyone!

Sponsored by the Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce, it's the Pearl Theater's way of wishing kids and their parents a fun kick off to a wonderful, happy and memorable Merry Christmas, 2024!
