Grateful for firefighters' work, sacrifice

September 27, 2022
I want to thank all the fire personnel working on the Kootenai River Complex fire. I personally interacted with all levels of personnel working on the fire and they were all very knowledgeable, hard-working and professional. The contracted engine crew we had staying on our property extended for an extra week just to make sure we were safe.

Their hard work kept us from having to evacuate which we really appreciated. We were sorry to see them leave. They went out of their way to explain to us what was going on each day and what we could expect from the fire.

There are not many engine crews left and they are now responsible for not only checking and maintaining the hose lines, sprinklers, etc. of the homes along Westside Road, but they are physically walking the fire lines. I am thankful that they are still here everyday making sure the fire does not damage my property.

So, kudos to all the fire personnel whether contracted or our local district personnel or the Idaho Department of Lands crews. They spent time away from their families sleeping on the hard ground at night just so we were safe.
