The truth about the M&O

What is the truth about the proposed M&O Levy and our property taxes? After seeing social media light up and hearing some dire predictions, I decided to dig for the truth. Here’s what I found out.

The levy is a continuation of the current one. Nothing is added. The amount being asked to support our Boundary County kids is $2.4 million, the exact same amount that was approved by the voters two years ago.

That means if I vote “Yes” on March 14, the amount of property taxes going to our schools does not change. In fact it could possibly go down because our county tax base is greater and the dollar amount would be divided among more taxpayers.

  1 - My tax dollars are supporting great programs like robotics and our winning sports teams.
  2 - Voting “yes” to the proposed levy adds nothing additional to my taxes.
  3 - We keep programs that benefit our students.

That’s three good reasons to vote “Yes” on March 14.
