Publisher The next Isaac Newton ... Albert Einstein? This is David Balogun, nine years old of Pennsylvania. He just graduated high school and has already earned a few college credits as he pursues his dream of being an astrophysicist specializing in the study of black holes and supernovae. Notice anything unexpected in this photo? Yep ... his headset is too big. “They didn’t bog me down,” he said of his parents and his teachers. “They … advocated for me, saying, ‘He can do this. He can do that.’” I hope I live 20 more years just to see what this young man becomes. I pray that by then we all appreciate that "driving, running, walking and/or fleeing in a wheelchair while colored" is no longer an offense punishable by death in these United States of America. That we finally repudiate the concept of superiority in all its forms and accept the fact that despite our differences, are equal. In any way we might choose to divide ourselves in our feeble attempts to claim for our particular faction an edge in superiority, there will be a few bad, most mediocre to okay, a few stars and one or two celebrities. And once every two or three centuries, a true world-changing genius. In that way, we are all of us equal. Even if our headsets are too big. |
