FedEx Ground having trouble delivering to Boundary County

August 23, 2021

A Bonners Ferry man awaiting the arrival of a package via FedEx Ground was surprised to find that his package was but one days late in a room full of others at the FedEx warehouse in Ponderay, all awaiting delivery to Boundary County.

"I was tracking my package and everything was normal until it reached Ponderay, then it was marked 'delayed,' and it just stayed there," Dave Gause said.

He found the number to the warehouse, (208) 265-1220, and after several tries getting through, was told that 10 of their 16 drivers have quit, that there were no deliveries being made to Boundary County and that he was welcome to stop by to see if it was there.

It was.

"They were very polite, but clearly short handed," Gause said. He was taken to a large area sectioned off piled with packages awaiting delivery to the county, and he waited about 45 minutes for a warehouse worker to locate his.

"FedEx Ground continues to experience a peak-like surge in package volume due to the explosive growth of e-commerce," company spokeswoman Allie Addoms said. "Contingency plans designed to restore service levels are being implemented. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by these delays and appreciate our customers' patience as these plans take effect. As always, we encourage customers to track their package or contact customer service by visiting www.fedex.com."

The Ponderay FedEx Ground warehouse is at 195 McNearney Street off Kootenai Cutoff Road, Ponderay.
