Friends of Boundary County Historic Places incorporate

September 19, 2021

The Friends of Boundary County Historic Places recently incorporated to celebrate and retain local history and places and to encourage the protection and proper use of historical sites. They'll be hosting their first fundraiser October 2 at Snyder Guard Station on the Moyie River, and they're looking for musicians to help enliven the festivities!

Snyder Guard Station has been on the National Historic Register since 1982 and has been recognized as one of the superlative sites in the Northwest Region.

The Friends of Boundary County Historic Places will advocate public service in preservation work, and hope to provide financial and non-monetary support for such work on public lands within Boundary County. The organization is open to all who are interested.

"We're hoping to encourage a sense of community through time," said founding member Pat Hart. "There are so many sites that mean something special to people in this community, no matter what their backgrounds or beliefs. Special connections, such Boulder cemetery, old grange halls, West Fork cabin, lookouts and more. These are places of the heart that are hard to retain. That's what we're trying to support."

Friends of Boundary County Historic Places first fundraiser will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 2, at Snyder Guard Station, Moyie River Road, Bonners Ferry. Refreshments will be available, tours take place from 1 to 2 p.m., live music starts at 2 p.m. and more.

Advance tickets only through September 24, by donation, minimum $10. To learn more or to buy tickets, contact Pat Hart, or (208) 267-2669, Craig Kelson, (208) 669-2252, Sonny John, or (509) 279-4917, or Beth Bigelow, or (775) 389-0125.
