State Superintendent candidate to hold local meet and greet

October 15, 2021

Former Idaho Senator Branden Durst, now running for Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction on the November 8, 2022, ballot, will hold a meet and greet in Bonners Ferry at 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, at Mugsy's Tavern & Grill, 7161 Main Street.

Durst is a Christ follower, husband and father to five. He is a conservative Republican and third generation Idahoan with family roots that run deep throughout the Gem State. He is a former Democratic member of the Idaho State Senate, representing District 18 from 2012 to December 1, 2013. He also previously served in the Idaho House of Representatives, representing District 18A from 2006 to 2010.

He is running for State Superintendent of Public Instruction on the platform of ending common core, stopping critical race theory and having money follow students to their parents’ school of choice. As a former state legislator in both the House and the Senate, Branden knows how to get things done. He was co-author of Idaho’s highly successful and innovative Advanced Opportunities program.

As a parent, Durst trusts parents to make decisions about wearing masks or receiving vaccines.

Professionally, he has been a small business owner, community college instructor and curriculum developer, and a licensed pastor. He earned a B.A. in political science and a masters of public policy. He’ll finish an Education Specialist degree in executive educational leadership in May, 2022.

All are welcome to come and meet him and bring any questions or concerns you have about Idaho’s public education system. For more info, contact Durst at info@durstforidaho.com or (208)505-8893 or email; Dave Wenk at dwenk717@gmail.com.
