Poston, Fioravanti to be new faces in local government

The ambulance levy failed, Mary Fioravanti will be the new member of the Boundary County School District 101 board and Brion Poston the new face on the Bonners Ferry City Council.

On the ambulance levy increase, which required a super majority to pass, 850 voted "yes" and "803" voted "no," falling short of the margin needed. In the BCSD 101 Zone 2 race, Fioravanti garnered 213 votes, incumbent Susan Weed 130, and Michael Underhill 45. In Zone 5, Teresa Rae took 239 votes to David Wilson's 115.

In the Bonners Ferry City Council race, Poston led with 320 votes, incumbent Ron Smith garnered 283 to retain his seat and Robert Lavala took 183.

In all, 1,653 voters cast their ballots.
