Bonners Ferry store closure rattles folks in Tennessee

November 10, 2021

A recent store closure in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, has had repercussions clear across the country in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, population 738. "The store that is closing is in Idaho! THIS. IS. NOT. US!!!" the owner of the Bulls Gap store posted to Facebook.

People in Bonners Ferry were saddened when Henry and Verna Yoder announced they were closing Yoder's Market in September, and rightly so. But when news of the closure spre4ad on social media, folks in Bulls Gap thought it was their Yoder's Country Market, also owned by a Yoder family, that was shutting down!

The confusion prompted a story today on the WBIR TV newscast in Knoxville, Tennessee, with the headline, "No, Yoder's Country Market in Tennessee is not closing" and a photo of Henry and Verna outside their late store near Three Mile.
