December 5, 2021
Boundary County Commissioners and the county planning and zoning commission will hold public hearings this month to consider a total of five land use applications for a two comprehensive plan map and zoning map amendments, a short plat subdivision, a conditional use permit and a variance. Both meetings at which hearings will be held will take place in the Boundary County Annex, 6566 Main Street, Bonners Ferry. County commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, to decide on a comp plan map and zoning map amendment application 21-0224 proposed by Byler Building Systems LLC to change the zoning designation on two parcels in the area of Smith Lake Road and Legacy Lane from agriculture/forestry to rural residential, which would, if approved, allow the development of one home per five acres rather than one home per ten. The planning and zoning commission has recommended the application be denied. They will also accept public comment on file 22-0018 for a preliminary short plat proposed by Craig and Elaine Wheatley to divide two 20-acre parcels on Homestead Loop into seven lotsranging in size from five to 6.43 acres in size. The Boundary County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, December 16. They will consider variance application 22-0007 by Ashdown Revocable Trust to allow a parcel of 2.67 acres to allow for a future parcel line adjustment on a ten-acre parcel located at 426 Ranger Road, comp plan map and zoning map amendment application 22-0017 by Warren and Tamara Patzer to change the zoning of a 3.65 acre parcel at 1177 Blume Hill Road from rural residential, with a five-acre minimum parcel size, to suburban, which allows development of one acre lots or parcels, and conditional use application 22-0010 by Donald and Teresa Dodd to establish a recreational vehicle park of up to 20 units on a 12-acre parcel located off Highway 95 and Fawn Lane. The deadline for written comment on these proposals is 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 8. Written comment on any of the above applications should be mailed to Boundary County Planning, P.O. Box 419, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805. The files are available for review by calling planning and zoning at (208) 265-4629 and selecting the planning extension.
