Significant winter storm possible Thursday

January 4, 2022

The National Weather Service, Spokane, has issued a winter storm watch for North Idaho and northeastern Washington, in effect Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon, with four to seven inches of fresh snow likely in the valleys and up to a foot possible in the mountains.

A relatively weak system is expected to move through later today, bringing scattered light to moderate snow showers, and it will be followed Wednesday evening and into Thursday by the stronger system.

The snow could make the Thursday morning commute difficult.
