High avalanche danger region-wide |
||
December 7, 2022
The Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center has issued an Avalanche Warning indicating high avalanche hazard for the entire forecast region, which includes Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai and Shoshone counties. This warning does not apply to local ski areas within the forecast region. This warning is valid for today and will remain in effect through 7 a.m. Saturday. Heavy snow and rising temperatures combined with wind will create widespread areas of unstable snow today resulting in very dangerous avalanche conditions. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended. Avalanches may run long distances and can run into mature forests, valley floors, or flat terrain. Similar avalanche danger may exist at locations outside of the coverage area of this or any avalanche center. |
