Cost of postage going up in July

The United States Postal Regulatory Commission on May 27 approved an April 6 U.S. Postal Service rate hike request, and the cost of mailing a one ounce domestic first class letter will increase by two cents July 10, going from .58- to .60-cents, a 6.5-percent hike. Metered one ounce letters will jump from .53-cents to .57, and the cost of each additional ounce from .20- to .24-cents.

The rate to mail a domestic postcard will go from .40- to .44-cents and postage for an international one-ounce letter from $1.30 to $1.40. USPS marketing mail costs will also increase by 6.5-percent and the cost of mailing periodicals and packages will rise by 8.5-percent.
