North Idaho flood advisory upgraded

The National Weather Service, Spokane, has upgraded the flood watch currently in effect in North Idaho and northeast Washington to a flood advisory as creeks and streams are rising and additional rain is expected. The advisory is in effect until 11 a.m. Tuesday. At 12:30 p.m., Doppler radar and precipitation measurements indicated long duration light to moderate rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry, Priest River, Colville, Chewelah, Newport, Ponderay, Moyie Springs, Kootenai, Dover, Clark Fork, East Hope, Nordman, Suncrest, Sherman Pass, Copeland, Ferry, Kettle Falls, Republic and Ione.

Motorists are reminded not to drive into standing water on roadways, but to turn around when faced with flooded roads.
