Capurso's Redoubt seeks library board recall to protect kids |
||
July 10, 2022
"We have our lists of registered voters for all 4 of these zones and we have our petitions ready to be signed by the registered voters of each zone to call for a recall election and let the people make the decision on their actions to expose our children to adult only material and books as they would allow all ages to have access. Keep in mind that there are 21 registered sex offenders in Boundary County and our children could become prey to these predators in our library due to the 4 trustee’s actions," she wrote. "Also, they voted on this action without listening to 'We the People' regarding their actions before their votes." The petition targets trustees Ken Blockhan, Wendy McClintock, Bob Blanford and Lee Colson, whom she said voted in favor of adopting a material selection policy, which does not purchase books, but establishes that "the Boundary County Library Board of Trustees recognizes that given the increasing emphasis on frankness and realism of materials including those that explore social, sexual and ethical issues, some members of the community may consider some materials to be controversial and/or offensive," and that "selection of materials will not be affected by any such potential disapproval." Board member Aaron Bohachek voted "no." "So we won't recall him," Capurso wrote. Board member Bob Blanford didn't vote on the measure as he was absent fromk the meeting, fishing in Alaska. "If you know people that cannot help gather signatures but still want to help, we are also accepting donations to help with our expenses, i.e. several banners, a sign, fee for a fair booth, etc. ... We can accept cash or checks, which you can make out to your zone leader or me. These donations will not be tax deductible. We would also appreciate your prayers for our success in keeping our children safe from those that want to corrupt them." |
