Coeur d'Alene man dies in head on collision

Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred at about 10:09 p.m. Saturday, July 16, on Highway 95 at milepost 500.5 near Kootenai Trail Road south of Bonners Ferry. A white 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 30-year-old female from Cocolalla was traveling north on Highway 95 when a 2004 white Toyota Highlander driven by a 28-year-old male from Coeur d'Alene, traveling south, crossed over the painted double yellow center line, colliding with the Silverado head on.

Per ISP protocol, names of those involved are not included in press releases.

The driver of the Silverado was wearing her seatbelt and was transported to the hospital via ground ambulance. The driver of the Toyota was wearing his seatbelt and was deceased on scene. Next of kin has been notified.

The roadway was blocked for approximately four and a half hours to allow emergency responders to help those involved.

The incident remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
