South Yaak Fire Salvage Project approved

The Three Rivers Ranger District has released a decision notice and finding of no significant impact on the South Yaak Fire Salvage Project to remove dead and dying trees resulting from fires near Troy last summer, allowing the project to begin immediately.

The project will see salvage logging by tractor on 551 acres, commercial hazardous tree removal from three miles of roadside, reforestation with salvage on 585 acres and reforestation without salvage on 300 to 350 acres. About half a mile of temporary road will be built to accommodate the project.
