DEQ issues air quality advisory

September 2, 2022

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality advisory for Boundary and Bonners Ferry due to smoke, and a ban on open burning has been implemented. Air quality is currently listed as moderate, but is expected to degrade to unhealthy for sensitive groups later today, and forecasts predict this rating will continue or get worse in coming days.

Those with medical conditions, especially cardiac or pulmonary, the very young and very old may be affected, and should remain indoors as much as possible. If you experience breathing difficulties, you are advised to call your doctor.

The smoke map image was captured at 3:25 p.m. Large yellow dots are official air quality monitoring sites, squares are subsidiary sites, and yellow indicates moderate air quality readings. The flames indicate working fires, the small yellow dots satellite indicated heat sources. The blue dot is Bonners Ferry.
