County declares state of emergency

September 2, 2022

Boundary County Commissioners met in special session this morning and formally signed a local disaster emergency declaration to allow state and federal assistance as multiple wildland fires threaten the community.

"WHEREAS, Boundary County has experienced lightning-caused wildland fires in August of 2022, which has created numerous fires within Boundary County. These fires have grown rapidly and with anticipation of high winds the threat to the citizens of Boundary County will be increasing dramatically.

"WHEREAS, the various fires have spread significantly within the last 48 hours with no containment. Firefighter and public safety, structures, private timber, livestock and crop protection are a concern needing to be addressed.

"NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, that the Board of County Commissioners of Boundary County, State of Idaho, declare an emergency."
