High wind watch issued for region

The National Weather Service, Spokane, has issued a high wind watch for an area including Boundary County, in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning. Sustained southwest winds of 20 to 35 miles per hour are expected, with gusts up to 60 miles per hour possible.

Such winds are likely to down or damage trees and power lines and could result in widespread power outages and blocked roads.

The strongest winds and heaviest impact are expected to be in the southern reaches of Boundary County.
